A new business venture or small business owner looking for a fresh start could be selected to have three months’ free use of a portable cabin courtesy of Just Cabins Central Otago and Lakes District.
“Virtually every business in New Zealand has been impacted in some way by COVID-19,” says Carl Cleaver, who runs Just Cabins Central Otago and Lakes District with his wife Claire from Queensberry.
“Perhaps you have an idea for a new business and need a dedicated space outside your home to give your ideas time to come to fruition or to get the venture off the ground. Perhaps your business lease is too much on your current turnover and you need some breathing space with your own office and free rent.
We would like to support two fledging or financially-impacted business owners by offering them the free use of one of our fully-insulated, double-glazed cabins for three months. If all goes well with the first three months, we will look at offering another three months’ free or reduced rental on the cabin.”
The cabins are ideally suited for use as an office, for massage or beauty therapy, storage and distribution, or another commercial use that does not alter the cabin or require plumbed water. They are fitted with carpet and curtains, and can easily be connected to electricity via the supplied extension lead. They are available locally in two sizes – standard (3.6m x 2.4m) and large (4.2m x 2.4m) – and are commonly used for sleepouts, worker accommodation, and offices for one to three people.
Mr Cleaver says: “We’d like to know why it would make a difference to your commercial enterprise to have the use of one of our cabins for three months. Applicants will be reviewed by our Just Cabins team and representatives of the business communities we operate in.”
Anyone in Central Otago and Lakes District can apply to be considered for the cabin offer as Carl and Claire’s Just Cabins franchise covers all the main towns Queenstown, Cromwell, Alexandra and Wanaka, as far south as Roxburgh, over to Ranfurly, across to Glenorchy, north-west to Haast and over to the Lindis. Just Cabins will deliver, set up and collect the cabin free of charge.
Applications open 28 May 2020 and close three weeks later on 18 June. The successful applicants will be advised by 25 June. They will need a suitable location for the cabin to be set up, and to agree that they will not alter the cabin in any way.
