CLIMATE CHANGE

Oct 30, 2023 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Climate change and extreme weather events, Catalyst Kōrero, Thursday, October 30

Even climate change sceptics cannot deny Cyclone Gabrielle, the North Island’s saturated summer and other extreme weather events over the past year.

Climate scientist and Bodeker Scientific director Greg Bodeker says they’re because of human-caused climate change.  They’ll become both more extreme and more common.  And New Zealand is particularly vulnerable.

He has studied climate for over 30 years and says that understanding extreme weather such as floods, droughts and storms is critical for effective and efficient adaptation decisions, long-term community resilience and spatial planning.

This Catalyst Kōrero is designed to help fill the huge gaps in our understanding of this existential threat.

The Rees Hotel Queenstown conference room, October 30, 6 to 7:30 pm. Register here to secure your seat. Please bring your cash koha for KiwiHarvest. More info on Catalyst Trust Eventbrite, Facebook and website pages.
