Showtime:  Saturday 3rd November Glenorchy Hall

Glenorchy Rural Women and Glenorchy Women’s Netball invite you to enter and join us for a spectacular night in November.

Following a postponement earlier this year, we are hoping that a winter break has allowed your creativity to run riot! We are calling for entry forms to be returned by October 12th – this doesn’t mean your creation needs to be complete by then, don’t panic! But we do want to get a handle on the level of interest as putting on a show is a big job and we need to know if there are enough outfits coming our way.

The categories are:

• Rags to Riches – recycled remade remarkable
• Wild & Woolly – natural fabrics & materials
• Jocks Which Rock – undies with sundries
• Out There Outfit – avant garde
• Crazy Kids Creations – made by kids and anything goes

What is Wearable Art?

Wearable art, also known as Artwear or "art to wear", refers to individually designed pieces of (usually) handmade clothing or jewellery created as an artwork. While the making of any article of clothing or other wearable object typically involves aesthetic considerations, the term wearable art implies that the work is intended to be a unique artistic creation or statement. Wearable art does not have to be totally functional in the traditional sense, but it has to fit the human form.

Wearable art as an artistic domain can also include jewellery, or clothing made from non-fibre materials such as leather, plastic sheeting, metals, etc.

What can you make?

Blending theatrical art and clothing, there is no boundary to what you can make up for this event. If it can be worn, it’s Wearable Art!  Any materials can be used, from fabrics to metal, wood, feathers, rocks or plastic. You can source materials from opshops, gardening shops, at the Recycling Centre in Frankton, from the forest…
The categories are for inspiration and are not restrictive; surprise us with your interpretations!

The Show

Your outfit will need to be showcased by being worn at the show on the night and we will be asking you to provide music to play as your outfit is paraded on the catwalk in the Hall.

If you are having trouble finding a model, please get in touch with the organisers and we can probably help you out. We also have options for hair and makeup assistance to complete the look so let us know if you want us to set that up for you.

Creations will be judged by guest judges and the show will be compered by our MCs. Food and a bar will be available on the night.
